How this calculator works
Find the tip amount and total for a bill at your chosen percentage.. The shelf price tells you what leaves your wallet today; the unit price tells you what you pay for a standard amount. Divide the package price by the quantity inside. Comparing cost per ounce, pound, liter or item makes differently sized packages easier to evaluate. Always compare the same unit before making a decision.
Important assumptions
A larger package is not automatically better value. Some products have concentrated formulas, different sizes, accessories or different usable yields. Compare net contents rather than the number of bags shown in a serving suggestion. For products sold by count, compare cost per item and consider whether the items are interchangeable.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mixing units or time periods.
- Counting the same fee or tax twice.
- Treating an estimate as a live quote or guarantee.
- Ignoring maintenance, waste, exceptions or other costs outside the inputs.
